There are many different techniques used in chiropractic to adjust the spine. Dr. Lynn utilizes the Gonstead System. The Gonstead System is unique because it is thorough, complete and specific in both analyzing and caring for the spine. It was developed by Dr. C. S. Gonstead, who practiced from 1923-1978. Using his mechanical engineering background and extensive hours studying cadaver spines, he developed this unique and precise approach to chiropractic.
Five criteria are used on each visit to evaluate the spine, so that an accurate analysis can be made and an equally accurate adjustment can be performed. These five criteria include, visualization of the spine, instrumentation that measures temperature differences from one side of the spine to the other, static palpation, motion palpation and x-ray analysis. The information gained from this thorough evaluation is put together so that only the true problem areas are adjusted.
The focus of the Gonstead adjustment is to be as specific, precise and accurate as possible, addressing only the problem areas. Great care is taken to ensure a mechanically correct position and precise thrust to provide the most accurate and painless adjustment possible. It is the goal of the Gonstead doctor and therefore Dr. Lynn, to restore and maintain optimal health by locating and correcting any inference to the nervous system caused by spinal misalignments, also known as subluxations.
Dr. Lynn, as a Gonstead chiropractor, is also well trained in the evaluation and adjustment of shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and ankles.
