Achieving A Spiritual Awakening
If you run into a buddhist monk, you’ll see that there’s a peaceful look in their eyes. They are in a permanent state of bliss. You may wonder what it takes to get that feeling of peace within, so this article will attempt to put it all in perspective.
Some individuals just flat out worry too much. There are deadlines to meet, expectations to fullfil, and goals to accomplish. But it’s important to pull back and look at everything from afar.
Sometimes this is easier said than done, but what is the alternative? I’ve seen friends resort to travel thinking that’ll relax them. Others depend on the company of people. But it’s not long before they find themselves in the midst of stress once again. So what’s the best way to find peace after all else has failed? It’s called “spiritual awakening”.
What Is Spiritual Awakening?
Spiritual awakening takes place within an individual. It involves an extreme state of consciousness and enlightenment. So how do you reach this state? Do you need to lock yourself in a room and concentrate, concentrate, concentrate? No. But achieving spiritual awakening is a process.
Spiritual Awakening Through Meditation
A complete understanding of how our mind works is critical in our quest for a spiritual awakening. Everything around us are products of the mind and its processes. It’s important that we understand this. Human perception is very limited. Let’s look at color for example. Color is just a quality assigned by the brain in accordance to varying degrees of wavelengths. Sounds all “new age”, but stay with me on this.
So since color is just a figment of our imagination, and we can’t really tell that purple, orange, or pink is the definitive truth when describing certain items, and if we know that our mind is limited by the interpretations of the human brain, we therefore need to do away with the mind while trying to attempt our spiritual awakening exercise. You need to look at the mind like a casual observer from a distance, and treat it as something that is not part of you. Try to relax and make sure that you are in a location where there is no outside interference like noise or distractions.
Imagine that you are in an invisible bubble, and that your mind is outside the bubble. So your thoughts are unable to penetrate it. If you accomplish this, you’ll experience total silence, and you will feel free from your mind.
You’ll feel big and all encompassing. And in this state of heightened consciousness, you will have a true glimpse of reality as opposed to the false reality that our mind gives us. You will feel at peace and you will feel connected to everything in an unbelievable way.
Practice…Practice…Practice
Getting into this heightened sense of awareness and consiousness does take practice and discipline. So it’s necessary that you give yourself the opportunity to be alone and in a place where nothing can disturb you when going through this process. Through repetition and consistency, achieving a sense of spiritual awakening will be second nature to you and this heightened consciousness will last longer. The bottom line though is that when you achieve spiritual awakening, your quality of life will improve enormously. You’ll stop worrying and you’ll feel more free. You’ll control your mind instead of your mind controlling you.
Why is Spiritual Growth So Important?
Spiritual growth has always been an important part of an individual’s sense of well being. whether you are already going down your own “spiritual path”, or in deep need of spiritual fulfillment, a deep understanding of what spirituality is can be helpful in more ways than one.
In order for us to understand what spirituality means, it is essential that we discuss the meaning of the root word itself, which is spirit. Spirit is an intangible property, something that is unreal or mysterious.
The search for answers is deeply rooted to our need to gain knowledge about ourselves, and how we are connected to everything around us. Mundane activities like fixing a lawnmower or observing a zebra at the zoo are unconscious manifestations of that need, and as a result are related to spirituality.
A common misconception most people have is that spirituality is exclusive to religion. Not true. Yes…religion has helped a lot of people lead spiritual lives, but it only represents a small part of spirituality. Spirituality is much bigger than that and has to do with a heightened understanding of what we are and how we are connected to everyone and everything throughout history.
What Is the Meaning Of Spiritual Symbols?
Many people make the mistake of referencing spiritual symbols to the historical and biblical things which can only be found in faraway places and or perhaps in a museum somewhere. However, spiritual symbols are all around us.
If you look closely to your surroundings, you can see that you are surrounded by many spiritual symbols. These symbols are there touching your life one at a time and are definitely affecting the way you live your life.
As a result it’s important for folks to realize the truth about these symbols so that they can appreciate everything they experience throughout their life. People need to realize that this is what guides us as we attempt to come to terms with our spiritual development.
Spiritual Symbols Can’t Be Seen Nor Touched
In addition to most people making the mistake of not knowing what spiritual symbols are, they also make the mistake of acknowledging them as tangible items. You don’t see, hear, touch, or smell a spiritual symbol. A spiritual symbol can only be felt within the spirit or soul of your body.
This is what gives us the power to face each day and each challenge that comes your way. Plus since spiritual symbols are present within, we are then guided into being able to communicate with our inner self or with our mind. Such symbols tell us right from wrong and therefore, become our absolute saviors in times of need.
Spiritual Symbols: Perceivable To The Eyes
Above I mentioned that spiritual symbols are not tangible items, and that’s true, however spiritual symbols are replicated into things that our mind understands easily. Quite simply, a physical item like a halo, corona, or triangle can mean much more to people than just a “feeling” that a true spiritual symbol provides us.
Yes, these tangible spiritual symbols are essential to many people and they can most certainly provide a sense of “spirituality”, but it’s important to put them in their proper place. Focus on your soul feeling spiritual instead of just being attracted to physical objects that are spiritual.
