They serve the needs of patients throughout western Iowa. The physicians are on staff at Mercy Hospital and Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The office is located on the campus of Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

A general surgeon is a specialist trained to diagnose and provide care for surgical conditions affecting almost any area of the body, such as the head and neck, breast, abdomen, arms and legs, and internal systems such as gastrointestinal, vascular, and endocrine systems.

The general surgeons at Council Bluffs Surgical Associates can also perform diagnostic tests such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, breast biopsy and exploratory laparoscopy. General surgeons may work with or refer patients to members of other specialties to ensure the best treatment program for each patient.
