Dr. Brent Zastrow is a graduate of The University of Iowa with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. After completing his bachelors degree, Dr. Zastrow began attending podiatric medical school at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences (UOMHS), now known as Des Moines University, in Des Moines, IA. Dr. Zastrow earned another bachelors degree in biological sciences at UOMHS. His fourth year of study was spent on rotation, where he was sent to several hospitals across the Midwest as part of his training. He graduated from UOMHS and became a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.
One of the hospitals where he studied during his fourth year of medical school was Deaconess Hospital (now known as Forest Park Hospital) in St. Louis, MO. He was offered a two-year surgical residencies at that hospital. For the next two years, he was a podiatric surgical resident at Deaconess Hospital and five other surrounding hospitals. While in St. Louis, he received extensive surgical training by many area podiatrists, primarily Dr. Allen Jacobs, a distinguished podiatric surgeon whose surgical residency programs were highly sought after. Before his second year of residency, he earned the title of Chief Podiatric Resident. Dr. Zastrow completed his surgical residency June 30, 2000.
Zastrow Foot Care is located at 900 6th Avenue in DeWitt, Iowa. Dr. Brent Zastrow is board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is trained to treat any problem of the foot and ankle and is available for emergencies. He has surgical privileges at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt and Mercy Medical Center-Clinton. He performs 100% of patient care without relying on an assistant to treat patients. He sees patients in the office Monday thru Thursday. Fridays are spent treating nursing home patients at one of four care facilities. New patients are always welcome.
