Founded in 2004 by Jay Murphy, we are a first-generation builder in Cedar Rapids with the vision to create homes of extraordinary beauty and superior quality, designed to give you the living experience you deserve. Jay draws all his own designs, which saves the homeowner thousands of dollars in design costs. He can draw plans from clients' ideas as well, creating your custom home to fit your unique lifestyle and needs. He will blend aesthetic appeal with functionality, using only the best building products available. Interior designers are available to help with the details of your home environment, from paint colors to complete interior design.
Jay is a hands-on builder, on the job site frequently, involved in “whatever needs to be done, from framing to sweeping the floors.” As the client’s primary contact, he is in constant communication with them throughout the entire project. Dedicated to customer service, our goal is to make your building experience an enjoyable one as well as to ensure the high quality and workmanship you expect.

J. Murphy Homes conducts a final walkthrough of your home before delivery, noting on a “punch list” things that need correcting at 30 days, six months, and one year. Our warranty is a one-year builder supplied warranty. J. Murphy Homes holds a membership in the Cedar Rapids Home Owners Association.
