J Design Photography has moved to a new location-6168 F-48 West Newton, IA. (Located west of town on old hwy 6...on the previous lot of the Sugar Grove Grange.) The studio entrance is on the west side of the house/building. I love my new location, and will be making some website changes soon!... FINALLY... Thanks for your patience.

I consider myself a "storyteller". Each picture I take should speak about who the person is. That's why I enjoy getting to know each of my customers -- what they do, where they live, and especially "who" they are. What I learn about my subjects is reflected in the pictures I snap/shoot/take to tell their unique stories.
Ever since my childhood days, it has been important for me to "capture" memories. Pictures last. Sometimes it is easy to forget how fast time goes by, but the pictures we take today, create our memories of tomorrow.
There are so many emotions attached to photography. Seeing my customers' reactions, whether it be in response to the first pictures of their newborns, their child's senior pictures, or a couple's wedding portraits, is what makes this the most rewarding career I've ever had.
