First State Bank
First State Bank was founded in October, 1933, in Battle Creek, Iowa. The country was still reeling from the effects of the 1929 stock crash and the shattering depression, which followed. In 1933 Franklin D. Roosevelt stated in his Inaugural address, The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. With this in the back of their minds, a group of people who had a great deal of courage and business foresight, decided to gamble on the future of Battle Creek and established a new banking firm, First State Bank.
