The Northland Inn is located in the heart of the great outdoors that truly offers something for everyone. They are on the edge of the Iowa great lakes chain, one mile from the north bay of West Lake Okoboji. Okoboji is Iowa's family entertainment and recreation center. the Northland Inn is your headquarters for all the area has to offer.

The Northland Inn is a 20 unit northwoods themed motel . All rooms have cable TV with HBO, refrigerators and microwaves. A complimentary continental breakfast in the morning. A fish and game clean out station and a fish and game freezer is available to all guests. Pets allowed.

The center of the area is the chain of glacier carved lakes, including Iowas largest natural lake, Spirit Lake, and the five interconnected lakes: West Okoboji (public access just one mile from the Northland Inn), East Okoboji, Upper and Lower Gar and Minnewashta. There are numerous other lakes, large and small in the area, with eleven lakes covering 15,000 acres, making this a popular water recreation and fishing destination.
Big Spirit is 5,864 acres and is known for walleye, perch, panfish and bass fishing. West Lake Okoboji is the second largest in the chain of lakes at 3,850 acres with depths up to 134. It is one of Iowas most popular lakes because the subterranean springs that make the water clear blue. It is one of only three true blue water lakes in the world. This glacial lake was created by the Wisconsin Glacier nearly 4,000 years ago. This lake is a summer hotspot for pleasure boating and water sports, with the spring and fall bite being good for anglers.

Warm Weather Activities
With all the lakes in the area fishing is a very popular pastime, offering a wide variety of species including large and small mouth bass, pike, muskie, walleye, channel catfish, bluegill and perch. Several fishing tournaments are held on the chain of lakes each year from March through September. Other activities include water skiing, parasailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, museums, nine golf courses, or spend some time with the family at Arnolds Park Amusement Park, Ranch Amusement Park and Boji Bay Water Park. For those who enjoy biking and hiking there are over seventeen miles of trails, including the Dickson County Trails, that wind through the scenic countryside of the Great Lakes Chain.

Ice fishing, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Join in the fun at the annual Winter Games with 5k & 10k Road Race & Walk, snowmobile run, ATV activities, broomball tournament, kids ice fishing contest, snowball softball & football.

Iowa is well known for great pheasant hunting and we are centrally located in the heart of the best of the best pheasant hunting. Deer hunting is rated almost as good as the pheasant hunting. Waterfowl and upland opportunities also abound. The fall and winter offer great hunting at numerous public areas such as the 1,681 acre Kettleson-Hogsback Complex and many more.
